Sun Broadens Wares with AMD Debut

NEW YORK--Sun Microsystems appears to have delivered on its promise of providing securities trading firms with a greater choice of hardware and operating systems, say industry observers in response to the flood of systems and software news that emanated from the vendor last week.

Sun is now able to offer firms servers based upon three architectures: the proprietary Sparc architecture from Sun, the Intel chip offerings or the processors from AMD.

To provide users with an AMD option, Sun debuted
