Amex Boots Bell Labs For Syntegra

EXCHANGE TECHNOLOGY

NEW YORK--The American Stock Exchange is midway through a replacement of all of its Bell Labs/Lucent telecommunications turrets with Syntegra pV205Hi models, which are IP-based and can interface with Amex's existing Nortel PBX telephones.

The deal comprises about 1,300 positions. Thus far, 500 turrets have been replaced and 800 more will be installed by fall 2002, the culmination of a 19-month program, says Peter Minoli, associate director of telecommunications at the exchange.
