NZX Weighs Share Registry Launch

WELLINGTON—The New Zealand Stock Exchange (NZX) is considering a launch of a commercial share registry to service the New Zealand market, officials say.

The announcement came in response to increasing local media speculation that the exchange was contemplating the launch of a service to rival the country’s existing share registry providers: Australian technology vendor Computershare and Ashburton, New Zealand-based BK Registries.
