Nasdaq To Use NT For Monitoring App That Scans Billions Of Shares Per Day

WASHINGTON--A Nasdaq benchmark study has concluded that Microsoft's Windows NT server operating system is robust enough to support the monitoring of a four-billion share day at the exchange.

Nasdaq decided to benchmark the Microsoft server OS in order to be certain that an NT-based market oversight application could handle the workload, says a Nasdaq official. The application is being developed to enable Nasdaq staff to monitor trading at the exchange on a near real-time, intraday basis.
