CHX Embraces CORBA Over COM For New NT Trading Environment

CHICAGO--The Chicago Stock Exchange (CHX) chose the Common Object Request Broker Architecture (CORBA) over Microsoft's Component Object Module (COM) when it decided to go with servers running Microsoft Windows NT.

The new middleware will have to accomodate a mixed environment of legacy VAX/VMS systems in the role of redundant back-end servers. In their place, the CHX has installed NT servers from Netpower, of Sunnyvale, California.

The nine new servers come equipped with dual and quad symmetric
