DLJ Deploys ATM For Repo Desk; May Install For 200 In TFI

Donaldson Lufkin & Jenrette Inc. recently deployed an asynchronous transfer mode (ATM)-based network at its repo trading desk, making it one of the first Wall Street firms to use ATM. The ATM network enables the firm to save thousands of dollars a day because it allows DLJ to accelerate its data communications and so limit its vulnerability to Federal Reserve Bank late fees. DLJ's move to ATM involved an upgrade from DOS to Windows NT to allow the integration of the repo desk's PCs with the ATM
