JP Morgan got what it hoped for when it racked up $28 million in savings during the first year of its Pinnacle Alliance outsourcing partnership, say JP Morgan officials. The savings came from reductions in mainframe, midrange, telecom, LAN, desktop and applications-delivery costs.

On the first anniversary of the Alliance a week ago, JP Morgan announced it had achieved an 8 per cent IT cost savings. JP Morgan plans to achieve a total cost savings of 15 per cent over the life of the seven-year
