Alex Brown To Pilot Arts For Baltimore Traders

Alex. Brown & Sons Inc. is preparing to install a pilot of American Real-Time Services Inc.'s PC-based quote system at its head-office trading room in Baltimore. Should the ARTS system prove satisfactory, it will be extended to support the firm's full complement of traders.
Alex. Brown, a market-maker in listed and over- the-counter equities, decided to pilot ARTS after spending six months evaluating other vendors in an effort to replace its long- incumbent Micrognosis Inc. video switch.
