St. Louis-based Edward D. Jones & Co. is preparing to join the crowd of national retail brokerage firms that have upgraded from dumb terminals to intelligent workstations. But market data vendors may find the do-it-yourself Jones a tough customer. For more than a decade, Jones has delivered data itself -- most recently Telekurs quotes and Reuters news -- and isn't likely to change its tack now.
