James Caird selects SunGard Reconciliation
The 'original' James Caird was a Scottish merchant and philanthropist who funded Sir Ernest Shackleton's Antarctic expedition of 1914 to 1916 on the Endurance. The open life boat, in which Shackleton and five other Endurance crew members made a 1,300 km voyage from Elephant Island to South Georgia, was named after Caird in appreciation of his contribution.
