Reuters Revenues In '98 Peak at $5B, Operating Profits Charted At $913M

LONDON--Reuters' total revenues for 1998 were £3.032 billion ($5.033 billion) compared to £2.882 billion ($4.784 billion) in 1997. Depending upon the rates of exchange used, the revenue figures represent an increase of five per cent, at actual exchange rates, or a jump of 9 per cent, filtered through comparable rates.

With the 1998 results, Reuters marked the last time that financial statements would be revealed according to geographical regions. The first interim report of 1999 will be along
