Versant's Object Database Provides Middle Tier for Banks

LONDON--Versant Corp.'s financial division is assisting several banks with the development of a "middle-tier" architecture for data management and distributions enabling them to deliver services over the internet.

HSBC is the latest bank to take the system, says Adrian Jones, vice president of European sales for Versant. It will use the database in a major re-development in its foreign exchange department at its Lower Thames Street location in the City of London. Jones says that HSBC will use
