Chemical Picks Sun Over H-P, Citing Sun's Reuters Record

Chemical Bank has selected Sun Microsystems Inc. SPARCstations to support its planned 450-position trading room in New York City. Sun emerged the winner after a close evaluation contest between it and Hewlett-Packard Co., whose UNIX workstations Chemical also considered.

According to Chemical global technology head Peter Fischer, the deciding factor in the bank's choice of Sun was the fact that H-P "still strictly has no installed base for the Reuters dealing system." Chemical selected Reuters
