Messaging middleware vendor Momentum Software has expanded its international presence by signing up distributors in Spain and Russia. With 1998 destined to be the year of the flat panel display rollout in trading rooms, competition in that market is heating up. Technologists can look forward to quite a choice of products, as major manufacturers such as IBM, Compaq Computer, Panasonic and Samsung move into Pixelvision's market.

Also pitching in is Richardson, Texas-based STB Systems with its Galileo dual 15-inch screen flat panel. STB reckons one trump card it has as it takes on the hardware Titans: its Symmetry display adapter features so-called Panel Link technology designed for displaying complex data over multiple monitors. Also working in its favour is that STB is a supplier of display adapters to the likes of Compaq, Dell, Gateway 2000 and IBM.

Tibco's dream of becoming ubiquitous in the push technology market moved ahead last month when Backweb Tech nologies shipped release 3.0 of it push solution, incorporating as an option Tibco's IP multicast technology. But users wishing to use the multicast facility will need to pay $50 per user extra for the privilege. If the feature takes off for Backweb and other TIB-based pushers, expect Tibco Software's [the non-financial division of Tibco] revenues to be significantly more than the $20 million it pulled in in 1996.
