Chemical Aims To Install DECtrade Worldwide Ahead Of Proposed Merger With Manufacturers

Despite its proposed merger with Manufacturers Hanover Trust Co., Chemical Bank is continuing development of a worldwide trading-room system architecture based on Digital Equipment Corp.'s DECtrade. Sources close to the bank say Chemical's technology staff -- headed by Peter Fischer, managing director of information technology -- is betting that the DECtrade platform they are installing will be the system of choice when the two banks merge.
