Reuters Focuses On Re-Skilling After Disappointing Q1

LONDON--A disappointing Q1 for Reuters will result in a re-skilling effort by the vendor, as part of its business transformation program. Reuters is laying off an additional 300 people, making a total of 2,100 since the beginning of 2000, but these 300 jobs will be re-filled, says a Reuters spokesperson. This is part of the company’s re-skilling program, which was announced two years ago (TTW, Feb. 28, 2000). The net number of layoffs remains 1,800.
