Lehman Brothers is building a decentralized, object-oriented database system and real-time broadcast replication infrastructure that will form the foundation layer upon which the firm will build its next generation of trading and analytic applications. The development is aimed at improving concurrency of database access and the performance of the firm's predominantly C++-coded trading systems and analytic libraries. To this end, Lehman has constructed a prototype of a synchronized database
