Bloomberg To 'Open' Up: Planned Quad Screen Will Display Unix-Based Customer Applications

Bloomberg L.P. is building a four-screen display platform capable of providing access to other parties' UNIX-based applications, as well as to Bloomberg's own services. Called the Quad Screen, the product will allow one or more of the monitors to act as an X terminal linked to customers' local area networks.

The Quad Screen's X terminals are meant to act as display devices on any UNIX-based customer LAN that runs Ethernet TCP/IP; each X terminal is separately wired to the LAN. The monitors
