Republic National Picks Kapiti; Calls Independence A Factor

Republic National Bank of New York has decided to purchase Kapiti Ltd.'s digital market data distribution system, citing among other things the fact that its chosen system integrator was not also a vendor of market data. Though Mike Howard, senior vice president at Republic, declines to name the vendors the bank evaluated, its decision not to go with a platform supplied by a data vendor clearly eliminated the likes of Reuters, its subsidiary Teknekron Software Systems Inc. and Dow Jones Telerate
