Swift Message Traffic Up 15.4% In 1998 With Revenues Jumping To $434 Million

BRUSSELS--The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunications (Swift) reported growth in both revenues and volume for 1998 in its annual results, with network traffic rising by 15.4 per cent to 937 million messages.

Growth in securities traffic offset the volume slowdown from Asia/Pacific and emerging markets and low volatility in world foreign exchange markets, say officials from Swift. Securities traffic now represents 16 per cent of the total message volume on Swift, up from 13
