In recent months, word has emerged among both data consumers and system integrators that Knight-Ridder is looking to develop a certification process. What steps the vendor has taken in this regard -- and whether they've been taken formally or informally -- remain a matter for some debate. While Knight-Ridder representatives have indeed been throwing the word around, certification -- of the Telerate- ish sort the industry has come to know and fear -- does not appear to be exactly what the vendor
