OMX Halves Reporting Fees
In what appears to be a move to fend off competition from trade reporting utilities such as Project Boat, the OMX Nordic Exchange will cut its fees for trade reporting by half from April. The fee cut covers cash equity trades across the Stockholm, Copenhagen and Helsinki stock exchanges, and is expected to cost OMX SEK (Swedish Krona) 50 million ($7.26 million) per year. Officials say the fee reduction is the first step in a plan to introduce MiFID-targeted products for trade reporting.
Deutsche Börse Launches Ultra Feed, Adds Xetra Bandwidth
German exchange group Deutsche Börse has launched CEF Ultra, its new datafeed that distributes un-netted order book updates from its Eurex derivatives market in real time, with sub-millisecond throughput times and message rates of 16,500 messages per second. The feed uses compression technology based on the FAST protocol, and allows subscribers to choose the data they receive.
The exchange has also boosted bandwidth on its network infrastructure from 128 kilobits per second to 512 Kbps to accommodate the growing volume of automatically generated quotes and trades. The upgrade has also reduced the roundtrip time for orders by an average of 50 percent, with the fastest times now just 25 milliseconds.

The platform now covers all Nasdaq stocks priced at $5 or less, which represents around 1,000 extra stocks. The vendor has also added fundamental data, including company overviews, institutional and insider holdings, short positions and financial statements, as well as technical overlays.
