InfoDyne Preps Europe Feed Handlers

The first new feed handler, for Eurex's low-latency EBS (Enhanced Broadcast Solution) datafeed, is already in beta testing and should be available via general release by mid-June, followed by a handful of other handlers in September, says InfoDyne president and chief executive Guy Tagliavia.

The additional handlers will include the London Stock Exchange's Infolect feed, including its low-latency Performance Channels feed, as well as feeds from pan-European MTF Chi-X and proposed venues from Nasdaq OMX and BATS Trading due to launch later this year.

"The development path we are following is to duplicate what we've done here in the US-so we will have consolidated order book capabilities integrated with middleware, support and monitoring," Tagliavia says. "We already have feed handlers for the LSE, Eurex and Euronext, but these are mainly legacy feeds, whereas most of the exchanges are now coming out with newer feeds that offer lower latency and MiFID compliance," he says.

"For some of the upcoming feed protocols, such as [Nasdaq OMX's] ITCH, we can draw on our experience of existing feeds, and-although there are differences-we expect to be able to roll out new feed handlers in short order once we have requests from customers," says Falke Bruinsma, head of development at InfoDnye.

Tagliavia says the vendor is trying to respond to demand from existing clients in Europe and to anticipate future demand. "Our customer base in Europe is not as big as we would like, but it is expanding and we are making a definite commitment to Europe.... US firms are now making strategic decisions across all regions-that's a big opportunity for companies like us," he says.

Initial demand is coming from top-tier banks, though Tagliavia says he expects to see demand coming increasingly from second-tier firms as well. The vendor will begin by targeting the European operations of its US clients, as well as completely new firms in Europe, he says.
