Merrill Lynch Asset Management has had a change of chief technology officers. Michael Tahan left the company over the summer and relocated to Vermont Mutual Insurance in Montpelier, Vermont. His replacement is Rod Steel, who joined Merrill when it bought Mercury Asset Management a year ago. Steel had been responsible for operations and information technology at Mercury. His earlier jobs included stints at Chase Manhattan, SG Warburg and Deutsche Morgan Grenfell. Steel is relocating from Mercury
