ISO Debates BIC Extension for Entity ID
BRUSSELS - Brussels-based interbank payments utility Swift has recently proposed to the International Organization for Standardization (ISO) that the Bank Identity Code (BIC) can be used for identifying certain business entities, Inside Reference Data has learned.
The request for an extension of the BIC standard to cover non-financial institutions has been submitted to ISO TC68. The topic will be discussed at the ISO TC68 plenary meeting in June in Helsinki.
