Sun Vs Microsoft In Battle For ECNs

NEW YORK--Sun Micro systems and Microsoft are battling for supremacy among Electronic Communication Networks (ECNs) and e-brokers, with Sun powering the lion's share of online brokers and Microsoft claiming the most ECNs.

A recent Gomez Advisors survey revealed that 71 percent of the top 20 online brokers use Sun server hardware and 59 percent use Sun application servers. Intel represented the next largest share--24 percent--of the hardware in those two categories, followed by IBM. Sun Solaris
