Deutsche Borse, LSE Agree To Develop EMU-Ready Electronic Trading System

LONDON--The London Stock Exchange and the Deutsche Borse announced last week an agreement to develop a joint electronic trading platform for 300 blue chip stocks from both exchanges in time for the launch of the single European currency on January 4, 1999.

This announcement comes less than a year after both exchanges inaugurated electronic order-driven trading systems for their most liquid stocks.
