AMD’s Opteron to Power Sun Servers

LAS VEGAS--Wall Street CIOs will have a new set of high-performance and affordable servers to consider for purchase in the coming year.

At last week’s Fall Comdex 2003 technology industry trade show held in Las Vegas, Sun Microsystems officials announced that they will deliver next year a new line of Solaris, Java and Linux--based Sun Fire servers that will be powered by the new 64-bit Opteron microprocessor from chip manufacturer Advanced Micro Devices (AMD).
