Reuters Trading Solutions’ Revenues Dull While Instinet Shines and Spends

EARNINGS REPORT

LONDON--The Reuters Trading Solutions division of Reuters reported unimpressive results for the second quarter, blaming the ongoing effects of Y2K, while Instinet showed revenues 50 percent higher than last year with a more than comparable increase in costs.

Overall Reuters group revenues showed an improvement of 9 percent year on year, and analysts have upgraded recommendations and raised full-year forecasts for the company. Profits before taxes of £450 million were buoyed by a £160 million
