1,500 To Join EDS Payroll, CBA Outsources IT to EDS Australia; Signs 10-Year, A$5 Billion Contract

The Commonwealth Bank of Australia (CBA) announced last month that it is slated to sign a A$5 billion (US$3.8 billion), 10-year contract with the Australian subsidiary of Electronic Data Systems (EDS), the Plano, Texas-based IT outsourcer.

The contract will put CBA's approximately 1,500 IT staff members on the EDS payroll, say bank officials. All but two of CBA's 65 IT managers are expected to take up positions at EDS Australia.
