Sell-Side Technology Awards 2014: The Winners and Why They Won

Some of the winners will be familiar from last year's list, with those firms continuing to show excellence in their fields. However, this year contained a number of upsets and new entrants to the winners' circle, chief among them GoldenSource, which broke Markit EDM's dominance in the Data Management Product category (across both the Buy-Side and Sell-Side Technology Awards) for the first time.

Markit, however, came back to win big with the overall prize of the night as Best Sell-Side Technology Provider of the Year, particularly fitting and timely given the very recent announcement that it has begun the process of filing an IPO. GoldenSource, as a result of its achievement, won the other award announced on the evening for Best Overall Sell-Side Product of the Year.

As usual, Waters is grateful to its external judges this year for their time, expertise and continued support. They are David Easthope of Celent, Fred Ponzo of GreySpark, David Saul of State Street, and Cantor Fitzgerald's Todd Berlent. The full list of winners can be found below. The senior journalists from Waters on the panel were Victor Anderson, Anthony Malakian, James Rundle, Jake Thomases and Timothy Murray.
