Witad Awards 2025: Vendor professional of the year (business development)—Ripple Bhullar, Kyndryl
Ripple Bhullar, vice president, head of US capital markets and diversified, at Kyndryl, wins vendor professional of the year (business development) in the 2025 Women in Technology and Data Awards.

What is your position within your firm?
Ripple Bhullar: I am vice president, head of US capital markets and diversified, at Kyndryl.
How long have you worked in the financial services industry?
Bhullar: I have been in the financial services industry for almost 20 years.
How did you get into the industry? Was it a conscious decision or did you “fall” into it?
Bhullar: My journey into the industry was a blend of conscious choice and serendipity. Studying at NYU’s Stern School of Business, I was immersed in the heart of the financial world in New York City, which steered me toward specializing in finance. My career began at Deloitte, focusing on investment banking clients. That sparked an interest in the capital markets, guiding my path in both industry and consulting roles. The alignment of education, location, and interests led me to where I am today.
What does your day-to-day role entail?
Bhullar: My role involves partnering with clients to navigate complex business and technology transformations. I work hand-in-hand with them, understanding their unique challenges and providing tailored solutions that draw on Kyndryl’s deep expertise in managing mission-critical systems. I guide clients through strategic decisions, large-scale change initiatives and regulatory challenges, while staying ahead of industry trends to offer the most relevant and innovative advice. Daily, I collaborate with an outstanding team, whose collective expertise is key to delivering successful outcomes for our clients.
What single project/piece of work are you most proud of during your career in the industry to date?
Bhullar: One of my proudest achievements was helping an investment banking client navigate Dodd–Frank compliance shortly after the law’s enactment in 2010. As a new and complex regulation, our team learned alongside the client, developing a reusable industry framework while guiding them through challenging requirements. This project not only resulted in a significant accomplishment but also fostered lasting relationships. The shared learning and collaboration made this experience both impactful and memorable.
What are you currently working on and what makes it significant in the context of your position?
Bhullar: I’m spearheading the expansion and acceleration of our growth strategy to meet the ever-evolving demands of our capital markets clients. This means offering forward-thinking insights on regulatory compliance, tech transformations, and innovations in wealth management. A major focus is harnessing the power of AI to drive efficiencies and deliver impactful results. By working hand-in-hand with clients, we’re not just solving immediate challenges—we’re paving the way for long-term success and shaping the future of financial services.
Clients choose you because they trust you. It’s your brand, your integrity, and that transcends jobs, companies, and opportunities
To what extent were you helped during your career by a mentor/role model within the business?
Bhullar: Mentorship has been pivotal in my career, providing guidance on excellence and being champions who supported me even when I wasn’t in the room. Over the years, I’ve unknowingly adopted traits from my mentors—across work ethic, client engagement, and team management—that have driven my success. I have been fortunate to have senior female executives as role models who have paved the path as future leaders while breaking down barriers. Mentors and role models offer invaluable guidance that shapes and elevates careers.
To what extent does your firm have a formalized framework that seeks to identify and promote talented women and ensure they have every opportunity to realize their ambitions and contribute to the business?
Bhullar: Given that we are a services organization, Kyndryl’s biggest asset is its people. The firm has invested in forming Kyndryl Inclusion Networks (KINS), which provides diverse groups, including women, with opportunities to advance through mentorship, networking and leadership development programs. This framework ensures that talented women have the resources and support they need to realize their ambitions and contribute meaningfully to the business, fostering an inclusive culture where everyone can thrive
What was the greatest obstacle you had to overcome during your career in the industry to date?
Bhullar: The greatest obstacle I faced was finding the balance between personal and professional priorities. After experiencing significant personal losses, I took a leave of absence to focus on my well-being—a decision that required overcoming self-doubt about its impact on my career. As a woman in the industry, prioritizing myself felt especially challenging, but I learned that with a strong network and support system, I could return stronger. The time off gave me the clarity and healing needed to be more focused and productive.
What is the most valuable lesson you’ve learned so far during your career
Bhullar: I’ve learned two equally valuable lessons. First, build a strong team and bring them up with you—you’re only as good as the people around you. Second, trust is the foundation of business. Clients choose you because they trust you. It’s your brand, your integrity, and that transcends jobs, companies, and opportunities. These principles have shaped my career and helped me build lasting relationships.
What would you advise women just entering the industry?
Bhullar: Know your worth and remind yourself of it regularly. On uncertain days, reflect on how you earned your place and the value you bring. You don’t need to know all the answers—just your unique perspective. Seek role models and mentors who build your confidence and support your growth. Believe in yourself; your voice is a valuable asset in the industry.
What does this award mean to you?
Bhullar: Winning the vendor professional of the year award is both humbling and exciting! I’m thrilled that this award highlights the achievements of women in capital markets, an industry where recognition is crucial for growth and inclusivity. It’s a reminder that our work matters, and I’m honored to be part of a community that celebrates and empowers women in technology.
