AX Trading Introduces Direct Block Trading in Private Equity Shares

The sun sets over San Francisco Bay and the Golden Gate Bridge
Merriman Capital, an early subscriber to the DirectAX service, is based in San Francisco

The newly expanded process, built off AX Trading's established platform, is designed to ensure that selling sponsors get the best prices for shares, as well as a level playing field for institutions looking to purchase those shares. DirectAX will also allow firms to perform corporate buybacks through AX auction, as well.

"The AX Trading Network is all about connecting equity market participants in a secure environment. DirectAX extends our network to the corporate community, allowing companies to efficiently raise capital from institutional investors and allowing private equity and venture capital firms to monetize their public holdings," says AX Trading CEO Kevin Callahan.

Merriman Capital, a boutique investment bank and brokerage based in San Francisco specializing in small and mid-cap company transactions, recently signed on for the new service, citing its efficiency.

"In an increasingly complex and illiquid marketplace, companies and sponsors are looking for simple solutions that allow them to efficiently raise capital for their firms or their limited partners. We look forward to leveraging this new liquidity solution for our clients," says the firm's CEO, John Merriman.
