Equinix to Build New Brazilian Datacenters
Equinix has announced that it will build two new datacenters in Rio de Janeiro and São Paulo, in order to meet market demand.
ALOG Data Centers of Brazil, an Equinix Platform company, will build the Rio facility at a cost of $20 million. ALOG will also begin construction on Equinix's SP2 facility in São Paulo, the second phase of the project, with completion expected in 2013.
"As the seventh largest economy in the world, Brazil is experiencing continued economic and infrastructure expansion, making it an attractive country for multi-national investment," says Charles Meyers, president of the Americas for Equinix. "With the expansions in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro, we are in a strong position to support increasing demand for Platform Equinix from key global customers looking to expand in the region."
