Bats Europe to Acquire Chi-X Europe

In the latest turn in trading venue acquisitions, Bats Global Markets, operator of the Bats Europe multilateral trading facility (MTF), announced today its intention to purchase pan-European MTF Chi-X Europe, pending regulatory approval from the UK Financial Services Authority (FSA) and Office of Fair Trading.

Both parties expect the deal, the terms of which have not been disclosed, to close sometime in the second quarter. Bats and Chi-X Europe began exclusive negotiations on Dec. 22, 2010.
