Paribas To Go With TIB/RV At BNP's Urging

NEW YORK--With its hostile takeover by Banque Nationale de Paris (BNP) complete, Paribas has taken a first step towards revamping its trading rooms by deciding to deploy Tibco's TIB/Rendezvous (TIB/RV) for 1,980 trading positions globally, say sources familiar with the situation.

The BNP-inspired decision concludes a long process that included a massive RFP (TTW, December 14, 1998) and a piloting program that began in spring 1998. Paribas evaluated at least three digital data distribution systems
