Following several months of evaluation, First National Bank of Chicago has selected NeXT Computer Inc. to provide a platform for a planned upgrade to its 250-300 position capital markets trading room. While it is still unclear how far the commitment to NeXT will go, between 70 and 80 NeXT workstations are currently installed at First Chicago, and plans are proceeding to write in-house trading applications to NeXT's object-oriented programming environment, sources say.
