HSBC To Use HKEx Link

HONG KONG--HSBC has signed on as the first user of a new, direct link to the upgraded version of HKEx’s Central Clearing and Settlement System (CCASS), officials confirmed last week.

But other firms are holding back, preferring to wait for a Swift connection to CCASS/3, the latest version of the clearing system, sources say.

The gateway is a Microsoft Windows-based device, installed at users’ sites, providing: message routing; support for concurrent transactions; message encryption and
