Merrill Boosting To Three Its Arsenal Of Supercomputers

By year end, Merrill Lynch & Co. will have three supercomputers driving CMO calculations, making it far and away the single largest Wall Street user of the high-speed computing boxes.

Merrill has already acquired one supercomputer to run the CMO Passport data and analytics service used by its 50 or so mortgage-backed securities traders and salespeople, as well as some 2,000 external users (Inside Market Data, April 13).

Adding to the one already in-house, Merrill will buy two more Intel Corp
