Sumitomo Buys Radar To Manage Risk; IBM Helps Adapts It For Local Market

Sumitomo Bank is installing California-based Risk Management Technologies' Radar system in its Tokyo office as part of an ongoing asset/liability and risk management project. The Unix-based client/server system will initially be used by Sumitomo staff in Japan to measure and manage the interest-rate risks of the bank's consolidated portfolio.

According to Kenji Aono, assistant manager of Sumitomo's corporate treasury in Tokyo, the bank has assembled a six-strong project team to implement Radar
