Smith Barney Business Unit Installs A Separate CIO
MANAGEMENT AND STRATEGY
The capital markets group at Smith Barney Shearson Inc. has brought in its own acting chief information officer, Peter Vinella. On a consulting basis, Vinella will serve as the liaison between the trading business units and the information technology groups, which remain under the oversight of central I.S. head Mel Taub.
Earlier this summer, Vinella left his position at Berkeley Investment Technologies Inc. (BIT), a company in which he was also a shareholder. BIT supplied Smith Barney with
