Salomon Considers Vendor Bids For Data, Distribution System

Salomon Brothers Inc. is evaluating responses to a request for proposal for the supply and local distribution of market data to the firm's investment banking group and other users in New York. These nontrading personnel, numbering 300, currently are serviced by Quotron Q1000 terminals.

Salomon issued its request for proposal last December. In it, Salomon sought pricing proposals for two scenarios: 300 terminals at Salomon's 7 World Trade Center operations in New York, or 800 terminals comprising
