Nasdaq Mulls Front-End Fight

NEW YORK--Fresh off the launch of SuperMontage, Nasdaq is considering creating a front-end solution to provide greater access to NYSE-listed shares that would put it in direct competition with vendors SunGard Trading Systems/Brass, Lava Trading, UNX, and Nyfix, officials say.

Nasdaq is developing, along with unnamed sell-side firms, a strategy to compete against the order management/routing vendors, particularly in listed shares, says Nasdaq executive vice president Dean Furbush.
