Madoff Automated Trading System Disrupted By Hardware Glitch
THIS WEEK'S LEAD STORIES
Bernard L. Madoff Investment Securities Inc.'s automated trading system hit a glitch during trading on Thursday, Jan. 17. The system failed late in the morning following huge trading volume caused by the startup of the Iraq war and the Allies' apparent initial success.
The Madoff trading system allows routes orders for execution on the Cincinnati Stock Exchange.
According to executives at Madoff, a misallocation of a "shared memory region" in one of the system's Stratus Computer Inc. mainframe
