First Boston Reevaluates Next As Platform For Equities

Following the departure of two key protagonists of NeXT Corp. computers earlier this year, First Boston Corp. is reevaluating a New York pilot development of its equities trading workstation on NeXT computers. Sources close to the firm say it may already have decided to scrap its 30-position NeXTstation pilot in favor of RISC (reduced instruction set computing) processors, probably Sun Microsystems Inc. workstations.
