Nortel Installs New Network For Bombay Exchange

BOMBAY, INDIA--Nortel Networks has established a US$2.5 million local and wide area network (WAN) for the Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE), offering ten times the speed and capacity of the exchange’s previous system.

Designed to enhance the exchange’s proprietary Bolt on-line electronic trading system, Nortel has subcontracted out the installation of 200 units of 2Mbps circuits and 400 units of 64Mbps circuits, replacing a leased dial-up circuit system, and plans to double this capacity in the next
