Telerate Must Win User Faith If It's To Dominate With TTS

Telerate Inc. must convince users of the superiority of its new foreign exchange trading system if it's to beat Reuters Holdings PLC at its own game. But early returns indicate that dealers' perceptions of the system -- known as The Trading Service -- aren't entirely positive.

The stakes are high. Telerate invested $21 million in its transactional services infrastructure in 1988; an additional $17 million was invested in associated services. Telerate, not known as a cash-poor company, says it
