Cisco Systems notwithstanding, Intel recently launched its own routers: the Intel 6000 Series Switch and the Intel Express 9500 and Express 8200. Available now, the routers connect remote locations to central sites, supporting wide area network protocols and hardware-based data compression to curtail the need for extra leased lines, and for scalability from ISDN to T1. The 6000 Series model is a Layer 3 Gigabit Ethernet switch for aggregating traffic on LAN-based servers; it offers 32 Gigabit
