Nasdaq Edges Closer to LSE, OMX

LONDON-The U.K. Financial Services Authority (FSA) may be taking away the last defense that the London Stock Exchange (LSE) has against a possible takeover by the Nasdaq Stock Market.

The FSA will be getting veto power to halt any changes proposed by "recognized exchanges that would be disproportionate," the U.K. Treasury announced late last week.

The change could impact Nasdaq's efforts to own the LSE because the new guarantee from the Treasury allows Nasdaq to move forward with a takeover but
