CBOT Suffers Second Trading Snag

The trading floor technical glitch was discovered sometime before the markets opened at 9:30 a.m. local time last Tuesday.

Trading began at 10:30 a.m. local time, after an hour-long delay, says a spokesperson for the CME Group, the new entity formed after the Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) acquired CBOT, which was announced in July (DWT, July 16).

The delay was caused by a technical problem in the trading floor's internally developed Electronic Clerk order-routing system, which remained down
